Philip Vasan

Philip Vasan was named as an Advisor to Lovell Minnick in 2025 and is a Board Member of SRS Acquiom, a portfolio company of Lovell Minnick.

Prior to Lovell Minnick, Mr. Vasan was nine years at BlackRock leading investment businesses across the firm and a member of the Global Operating Committee. As Deputy Head of the Portfolio Management Group, which encompasses BlackRock’s active investing, he co-led Fundamental Active Equity investing; he also formed the BlackRock Hedge Funds platform representing the firm’s direct hedge fund business; and led technology implementation across all investment businesses. Prior to this, Mr. Vasan led Global Lending, Liquidity, Financing and Balance Sheet, and before that led Investments and Portfolio Solutions for BlackRock U.S. Wealth Advisory.

Before joining BlackRock, Mr. Vasan was in global leadership positions with Credit Suisse as a member of the Management Committees of the Private Bank and Investment Bank. He served as CEO of Private Banking Americas, and prior to that developed and led Prime Services to the top two global position with hedge funds; there he enabled industry adoption of the multi-prime brokerage model now widely used by hedge funds. Mr. Vasan served as Head of Equity Derivatives; and before that, as Head of Global Foreign Exchange, he worked with competitors to jointly launch the market’s first online trading platform for clients, FXall, which was later bought by Thomson Reuters. He also directed the bank’s e-Commerce investments.

Mr. Vasan received his B.A. with High Honors from Oberlin College, and his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University, where he was named top graduate instructor at the University. He has authored a text on Options, has served as a visiting lecturer in Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and has lectured at the Wharton School of Business. He has served on the Investment Committee for the Oberlin College Endowment and is a former Director of the Managed Funds Association. Mr. Vasan is a Trustee of the East Harlem School in New York City.
